If we are a publicly funded school, why do we need to fundraise?
Parents give a lot throughout the school year. Fundraising seems like ANOTHER THING to add to the long list of things to do. What do we need that money for anyway?
Fundraising bridges the huge gap between what's offered by the district and the enriched program we offer in the Optional program.
The Optional Fundraisers pay for:
Additional bussing for field trips
Art and craft supplies for our art enriched program.
Along with grants, your dollars go to support our extensive garden program, including wood for building beds, dirt, wire, seeds, lights and other necessities that are not donated by our families.
Craft Day projects which rely on both parent donations of recycled items and purchased items.
Intensive Studies which can range in cost.
Classroom plays and performances.
A discretionary budget for each teacher's classroom to purchase curriculum, books, subscriptions, and other materials used by our students.
Scholarships for students that are not able to pay for fields trips.
Building materials for improvements to the program.
Things the raised dollars do NOT get spent on: Plays at the PAC (we ask for parents to pay for tickets which are generally $8 per seat)
The other part of fundraising is about building a community with a common goal, both within the Optional families and outside the school. Many of the funds come from generous sponsorships and donations by businesses in the Eagle River community. Many of our activities are not possible without these donations.
Kids Kreations Art Project Fundraiser
This is a fantastic art project fundraiser. Our kids' fun artwork is worthy of The Met, right? Well, you can take that artwork and have it produced on a myriad of products. From the basic t-shirt to beautiful jewelry and box to store it in, you will find the perfect gifts for everyone.
Art Auction and Potluck
Our spring potluck focuses on kids artwork as well. This time all students work together to create a cooperative art piece that we put to auction. We collect silent auction items throughout the year as well.
